Three Fulani herders were found guilty of suspected armed robbery, culpable homicide, rape, and other horrific crimes in the state and were sentenced to death by hanging by Minna High Court No. 3.

Sani Idris Boka, Babangida Gido, and Mohammed Ibrahim Soja were among the suspects.

They were charged with ten counts of armed robbery, culpable homicide, rape, and other terrible crimes by members of the Niger State Police command, and they were tried and found guilty on all of the counts.

In December 2015, the trio is said to have robbed Josephine Monday at Waugu village in Shiroro Local of about N1 million in cash, recharge cards worth around N20,000, and her husband's N58,000 that had been entrusted to her for safekeeping.

In his ruling, Justice Mohammed Adishetu Mohammed, the presiding court, said that the prosecution's evidence and witnesses had been "so consistent and explainative, even as the prosecution witness's testimony is credible."

In his word,“Accordingly, I hold that all the ingredients of the offences of rape, attempt to commit culpable homicide, causing grievous hurt and armed robbery have been proved against the convicts beyond reasonable doubt.

“As such they have been sentenced to death by hanging, life imprisonment for the offence of rape and ten years imprisonment for causing grievous hurt and all the sentences to run consecutively”.
